*** GIVEAWAY *** winner

September 14, 2014

I had a lovely tea post to share with you today, but my computer has died. I'm borrowing Mr. Beautiful's laptop. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble uploading new photos onto his computer. So, until I get a new computer or figure out the problem on his, I will have to blog photo-less (or re-cycle old photos). Hoping this won't be for long.

So, in the meantime, I can at least announce the winner of my *** GIVEAWAY***!

Congratulations to Lorrie of Fabric Paper Thread. I will be contacting you, Lorrie, for your address.

Thanks to all of you who generously offered advice on responding to blog comments. There was a variety of preferences, so after reading through everyone's advice, this is what I've decided to do: try and visit bloggers who leave a comment, and try to respond to non-bloggers by email, or, if they are no-reply, in my blog comment section. I am sorry not to routinely respond to people in my comment section; several people expressed that preference, but I will only do that if I can't contact you another way.

This is actually what I've been doing all along, but I had started replying to every comment by email and visiting and commenting on the person's blog. That was just too much to do with every comment. I do like the occasional personal interaction of an email, but have to let myself off the hook of feeling obligated to do that all the time.

{I know my computer is five years old, and in computer years, that makes it ancient. But don't you think they should last a little longer?}

  1. I do agree with you that computers should last more than 5 years--a lifetime would be nice! Also, good decision on how to handle comments...I think that will work great.

  2. Five years old? Computers definitely should last longer than that. Hope the repair place can fix the problem for you. It took me a while to find a computer repair business that suits me, but I did eventually. The worst thing this year was when my portable hard drive died. It cost a fortune to recover that data. (I bought a car for less, years ago.) Now I make a much bigger effort to back up my docs.

    1. Thankfully, I've backed up the most important stuff. I might lose a few things, but nothing too important.

  6. Hi Deborah, thanks so much for having the giveaway and congrats to the winner! I had to replace my computer which was 5 years old with a new one last month! Yes I wish that 5 years was not old for a computer but now my new baby works great and has so much speed! Take care and good luck with computer situation and enjoy your week.

  7. Congratulations to the blessed winner!

I am so sorry about your computer :( My laptop died a month ago and I had only had it for 3 years! In those 3 years I had to send it off twice to be fixed and then one day my mother board died. It was an HP and lets just say I don't think I will buy one of those again. This time I bought a Toshiba and am praying it lasts for a long while.

Have a wonderful day, sweet lady! Hugs!

  8. Yes, definitely, a computer should last longer than 5 years. However, my daughter is having trouble with her laptop after only 3 years, so she would be envious of the 5 years you have gotten.

    Have a great day!

    Blessings,
    Patti

  9. Thanks so much, Deborah - I'm pleased to be the winner of your giveaway. I agree that computers should last longer - as should all of our electronics like phones and other gizmos. Built in obsolescence irritates me no end.

  12. Congratulations to the winner! Sorry about the computer. Sometimes it just needs to be serviced and you can save it. Mine has gone completely out, and I was able to get it running again with being 'looked at'. I agree with you on your decision about commenting. In a perfect world we would have 48 hours in every day, but people understand that you have a life, too. Hope the rest of your week goes much smoother. xo Karen

  14. Hi Deborah, Congrats to the winner of your giveaway!! Yes, a computer should last longer the 5 years but it doesn't seem to be the case for many of us.
Glad you figured out what works best for you with replies. Enjoy the process and have fun!!

  16. I like your plan. I lean toward that one too, because lately I have not had the time to do both, and I feel bad. xoxo
