June tea and some fun finds

June 15, 2015

This is my birthday week (yay!!), so I'm using my Royal Albert June teacup for tea today.

Pearls and roses . . . June's flower and gem
I got this beautiful heart from FlowerLady'sMusings etsy shop. Isn't it lovely? Someday I really want to try this ribbon embroidery.

I know bare legs are au courant, but sometimes I like to feel a little more covered, especially at church or at a formal function. I also have a number of open-toed heels. Look what I found . . .

Toe-less pantyhose.

Perfect solution. I found these at our local department store. They are made by Berkshire.

And, as someone who has suffered with chronically dry and cracked heels, I have tried everything to keep my heels soft and to prevent cracking. O'Keeffe's for Healthy Feet. Oh, my. This is the best. stuff. ever. $7.38 for a 3.2-ounce jar. I'm not ashamed to wear open-heeled sandals anymore.

I got it on Amazon. With Amazon Prime, I can order just this, and not pay any shipping. You can find it at CVS, too.

I'm still slogging through Solzhenitsyn. He's put kitty to sleep.

I'm joining Rose Chintz Cottage for tea.

  3. Happy Birthday to you! We have lots of June birthdays in our family and circle of friends.
I find almond oil really helps my heels and the abrasive tool like they use at the spa...works wonders in between a professional pedicure. Enjoy your week.

The pantyhose is just right for open toed shoes and the foot product sounds wonderful. Thanks for sharing and joining me for tea.

What a nice surprise to see my heart in this post! Thank you for the mention and link to my shop.

If I can do this, you can. I'm just a novice. Go on to you-tube and you will find all kinds of tutorials for silk ribbon embroidery. Look on Pinterest too. Once you try it, you'll want to do more and more. There are so many talented ladies with exquisite creations.

Have a great week ~ FlowerLady

  8. Happy birthday, dear Deborah! Remember to celebrate it all month long.

That is a lovely heart, I can't imagine all the work that went into it. Lots of work going into your book too, I'm sure.

  10. Dearest Deborah,
Happy Birthday for tomorrow and you sure can enjoy your open toe shoes like this.
When for the wedding of September 2011 I had ugly black toes, as the horse that I rode, stepped on my foot when I brought her into the stable. So I called the Wolford outlet and asked if they had sandal-toe pantyhose. I meant those that are not reinforced and not as stupid looking in sandals. But I got exactly the ones you showed here! I did not wear them for the wedding but later I did. I had no idea either these even existed!
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette

  16. Happy birthday!!! It's celebration week around here too, as one of my children and one of my grands have birthdays within 5 days of each other. I love the toe-less hose. I thought back to hose that were around briefly when I was a teen... they were woven with the big toe separate from the other toes so you could wear them with thong-sandals! I think their popularity must have lasted about five and a half minutes. :)

  17. Happy birthday, Deborah! The toeless pantyhose are interesting. I haven't worn pantyhose for quite some time. That means I don't wear dresses, unless they're long dresses, in the winter time. :) The heart is lovely. I enjoyed seeing it. Have you tried the aloe infused socks for dry feet? I like them...but not in the summer time...in the summer, I must have bare feet when I go to bed! ha

  21. Hmm. Your kitty is wise :) Happy birthday, Debbie! Many happy (and healthy) returns of this wonderful day! Those toeless panyhose are very cool -- but I don't wear pantyhose anymore. But they sure are perfect for those shoes. I make a great cream for feet too that I sell here locally. I don't think it would ship well in the summer. But I'm told it does wonders for those cracked heels too -- glad you found something that heals so well!

  22. Happy birthday Deborah, your June teacup is pretty and perfect to celebrate with. Open toe nylons are a novelty, I just wear nude toe pairs for church. Glad you found something for your heels, our skin tends to try out everywhere with age, doesn't it?
