Just pictures today

April 25, 2016

A book club friend had us over, and served tea using her beautiful set of cups and plates, all different patterns. I made gluten-free peanut butter cookies. So easy -- one cup peanut butter, one cup sugar, one egg, roll in sugar, bake about 10 minutes at 350 F -- that's it!
Got an orchid from Trader Joe's -- you water it once a week with three ice cubes. I can do that.

My husband and partners and employees went out to celebrate the end of tax season, and he came home with leftover crab and shrimp.

Using up some almost-expired puff pastry in the freezer. I made a chocolate-walnut roll. Recipe at puffpastry.com.

Ugh . . . three hours of scraping with a razor blade to get all this off pantry shelves in our daughter's fiancé's new house. We've been working here a lot, spackling and painting, etc.
I still had one more coat of paint to put on this, but was quite pleased with the progress.
New blue shoes.
Remember my recent post about my red shoes? (I can jump higher in my red shoes.) Well. I think I can enjoy tea more in my blue shoes.

  1. Your new shoes look great and I love crab and shrimp but have rarely thought of using them with pasta...now my mouth is watering...and it is not even lunchtime!
The tip about using ice cubes in the orchid is new to me...I use tap water once a week for mine and so far they are re-blooming and seem happy.

  2. Love this random awesome post.

Your new shoes are to-die-for gorgeous - I can no longer ever wear pretty shoes since the foot fiasco - so sad, just gave my sister 2 full boxes are extremely expensive leather shoes boots and sandals. :-(

Well at least she is super happy - some of those were worn maybe once. Yours are gorgeous and I am happy for your feet! : - )

Lovely tea time - your pics are so beautiful, Deb. xxoo

  7. Watch out, I think Diane may be trying to steal your shoes, lol! They really are very cute! How I miss our "tax season is over" parties!!! Our office closed before noon on the 15th and we would get into a limo and head to CT to a casino for lunch, dinner and fun! Sometimes we did catered dinners at my boss' house. Always fun! Your orchid is beautiful and easy to take care of!!! Enjoy!

  10. This post features my favourite things: tea served in a pretty teacup; sweet treats, seafood (now I'm craving Red Lobster!); and fun shoes (love the colour)!

I use the same peanut butter cookie recipe, but this is the first I've heard of rolling it in sugar. I'll definitely have to try that next time.

  11. The cookies sound so easy, Deborah, and pretty on that duo set. How wonderful that your hubby brought the leftovers home for you to make a yummy meal! The orchid is beautiful and so are your new shoes!! Let's go to tea, but I'll have to buy some new, pretty shoes! I'd just like to come to your house and have some of that chocolate puff pastry roll. Love and hugs to you, sweet friend!

An easy-peasy cookie recipe, a chocolate roll, a delicious looking crab and pasta dish, a pretty snack set holding tea and cookies, a beautiful orchid and those gorgeous shoes! Your orchid is lovely and sure is easy to care for. As for those shoes, wish I could wear them. They are darling and I love the colour! You must be busy working on your soon to be SIL's home. What a good feeling to get it done though, eh? I enjoyed your little bit of everything post and thank you for sharing it with us. Have a beautiful day, my friend.

  18. Dearest Deborah,
That was a medley of posts combined into one publishing!
The cookies sound easy but what amazes me often is how much sugar is used in some American recipes!
Orchids are very rewarding plants and not really high maintenance. We've learned to appreciate them after living with lots of them in Indonesia, on a little board with some wood wool against the patio wall. They just picked up nutrients from the tropical rains. You can read about them here: http://mariettesbacktobasics.blogspot.com/2012/08/our-tropical-patio-with-orchids-in.html
LOVE your shoes and that left over crab and shrimp was cleverly converted into another delicious meal.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  19. That's a beautiful teacup and plate set! Your cookies look quite at home on such a pretty plate ;) You've been making all kinds of yummy looking delights. The chocolate roll looks delicious. You're such a good mom to scrape those shelves for 3 hours and paint them all as well. You certainly deserve a new pair of shoes after all that hard work!
